For me Tai Ji has opened my eyes to the capabilities of my body, but also to the many years of “abuse” that a “normal” lifestyle comprises. For the beginner, which I still am even after some years of practice, it is probably important to know that Tai Ji is no easy fix, it’s not like a pill you swallow and then you’re done, it a slow an deliberate change of the way you do everything with your body – and it takes time. As Yoda says in the old Star Wars movie "you must unlearn what you have learned" – I’m sure he has stolen that quote from some Tai Ji master – and you’ve been "learning" the wrong things for all your life until now, thus it may take an equally long time to unlearn. The satisfaction of practice, even if imperfect, is however present, from day one – so I can only recommend people to try.
